Week 4, Term 1

On Thursday we had some friends from Grove Street Kindy come and visit us. We decided to make 'crowns' because c was one of our sounds we have been learning this week.

This week we had a visit to Rutherford Street Kindy to visit our friends. We walked the entire way in the shape of a sneaky snake! We had morning tea and time for a lovely play. On the way back to school we stopped in the Cathedral Garden for a drink to cool us down.

We have been learning about high and low sounds in music. Here we are moving our bodies to high sounds and low sounds.

Next week

Our sounds will be k and e. Our words will be see and we.
During maths our class focus will be 'the number that comes before a given number'.
Our Inquiry Topic of Busy Bodies is drawing to an end. The children wanted to find out what happens to food once we have eaten it. We have researched the digestive system in our bodies and have discovered our bodies are pretty amazing. The next Inquiry topic is called 'Is it an Animal', hence the trip to Natureland.
We will continue swim until the weather cools down. The children are thoroughly enjoying the water.
As part of our efforts for the Gala fundraising our syndicate is making a 'Baby Bundle' to auction off on the day. We would appreciate donations to put into the basket. Items have to be new but not expensive, such as baby wipes, creams and lotions, bibs, etc. Thank you for your support.

Have a happy and safe week!

Week 3, Term 1

This week we have been looking at the letter 'p'. We decided that it would be a good idea to have a 'Popcorn Party'. We listened to the wonderful popping sound and enjoyed the delicious smells... and of course the scrumptious taste!

During maths time we have been learning lots of new games to help our number knowledge and strategy building.

With our inquiry topic we have been doing some interesting learning about our bodies. At the beginning of the week we formulated some questions to research. We decided to find out what happens to the food we have eaten. We have looked at some useful videos. We hope to find more information at the library tomorrow.

Next week...

Our letters will be 'n' and 'c'. Our words will be 'look' and 'my'.
During maths we will continue to look at the next number.
We have a trip planned to Ruderford Street Kindy on Tuesday. We have a new friend joining us from that particular kindy so we thought we might surprise her with a visit!
We also have friends visiting us from Grove Street and Brook Street Kindys on Thursday and Friday. It will be great to catch up with our old friends and to welcome new children that will be joining Renwick 3.

Have a happy and safe week!

Week 2, Term 1

Wow! We have had a very busy week in Renwick 3.
Here are some pictures of us during reading and maths time.

We have also started our Inquiry topic 'Busy Bodies'. We are learning all about our bodies. You might have noticed the new 'Renwick 3 Granny' hanging on the wall. We have named lots of her body parts already.

Swimming has been a great relief in the afternoons. All the children are confident in the water and are enthusiastic to demonstrate their skills.

Next Week...

Our letters will be 'i' and 'p'. Our words will be 'is' and 'in'.
During maths we will moving onto number for the rest of the term. Our focus for the week will be to identify the next number after any given number up to 20.
For our Inquiry topic we will be learning how to ask a good question using one of the seven servants (who, what, why, when, where, which and how).
Remember library books are due back on Friday.
I am really pleased with the way the children have all settled so well into the class. Their enthusiasm and energy inspire me! Thank you for your support.
Have a happy and safe week!
